WORKSHOP DATES

Come on out for a cozy evening of weaving!

 

Below you can find information for the Introductory Workshops and the Intermediate Workshops:

Introductory Weaving Workshop:

​

This class includes a 10" x 15" wooden loom, a heddle bar, comb, wooden shuttles, weaving needle, all yarn for the project, plus a wooden dowel. 

 

The event will take place at Sweet Threads Yarn & Fibre (37816 3rd Ave, Squamish).

 

Above is an image of the weaving we will be creating (colours can be switched out; there will be lots to choose from). The completed piece measures appx. 7" x 14".

 

This will be a ~2.5hr class with a maximum of 6 people. 

 

Here are the details: 

 

  • What: 2.5hr in-person class including a loom to keep and materials for the class

  • When (all separate classes - purchase your ticket through Eventbrite linked below):

  • Where: Sweet Threads Yarn & Fibre, 37816 3rd Ave, Squamish, BC

  • Who: All ages welcome. I would recommend having a parent available to help any children 12 or under. 

  • Cost: $110 (if you already have a loom or would prefer to borrow one, please contact me about separate pricing). 

 

**Refunds will only be offered if cancellation made at least 48hrs in advance.

What you will learn in this class:

  • How to use your loom

  • Weaving techniques: warping, twining, tabby weave, bubbling, how to create a twill pattern, rya fringe, tucking in ends. 

​

Intermediate Weaving Workshop:

​

This class is geared towards those who have participated in my Introductory Weaving Class, and who already have their own loom.

​

You will have a few different options for what to make in this class: another wall hanging, a coaster or a woven hot plate (see photo examples below).

​

Techniques taught in this class:

  • Review of warping, twining, tabby weave, bubbling, rya knots

  • How to use your heddle bar and shuttles

  • Single warp and double warp

  • Pick and pick for creating vertical stripes(or just continue to play with tabby)

  • Soumak to create a braided effect

  • Weaver's knot​

​

Make sure you remember to bring your loom, heddle bar, two shuttles, comb, weaving needle (if you still have one, otherwise I will have extras)

I will be supplying all warp string and yarn for the class.
